Resident Spotlight: Meet Amy and Corey
Meet the Rossos
Amy and Corey Rosso met while working for Strayer University in Charlotte nearly 14 years ago, and they experienced quite the geographical journey before landing in their now-beloved home in Briar Chapel. They moved every year for seven years, and Amy and Corey had spent years visiting family in Chapel Hill, including a cousin in Briar Chapel.
“Through our moves, we saw several types of towns,” said Amy. “We decided to move to Briar Chapel, because it made us feel nostalgic for our childhood – one in which we would go bike riding for hours and come home when a parent called for dinner. We wanted a place where neighbors helped each other, a place that had a real sense of community. And that’s what we found in Briar Chapel.”
A Family Affair
It wasn’t long before the Rossos moved to Briar Chapel, followed shortly by Amy’s parents and a cousin. Talk about a family affair! Flooded with memories of their own childhoods, Amy and Corey couldn’t wait to raise their own family at Briar Chapel, a community ingrained with opportunities to build relationships, play with neighbors and pursue outdoor activities. Best yet, Amy’s two children regularly pop over to “Mimi and Papa’s house” (grandma and grandpa who live in the neighborhood) for pizza and movie nights or a family afternoon bike ride.
“Having family so close is amazing,” said Amy. “It’s not lost on me how lucky we are to have that camaraderie and support. We grab each other’s groceries while we’re at the store, or they are able to provide babysitting in a pinch. I believe in the concept that it takes a village to raise a family … and we’re lucky that folks in our village live right here in Briar Chapel.”
When they aren’t playing pickleball, traversing the trails or dining with family, Amy and Corey enjoy successful careers. Amy owns FIT4MOM Chapel Hill – a fitness network for pre- and postnatal mothers -- and Corey works from home as the Vice President of Compliance for Strata Tech, based in Arizona.
Why They Love Briar Chapel
“We love the neighborly feel and people. We met more families in our first month living here than we did during our five years in our previous home in northern Virginia!”
