Q3 Update! Green Benefits Keep Growing
Each quarter, we’re excited to share updates on our sustainability measures at Briar Chapel – and what this green growth means for our residents.
From our land design to our eco-friendly, NGBS-certified homes, Briar Chapel provides a community where families can building meaningful lives while also forging a sustainable legacy.
In Q3 2020, we have a lot of green to celebrate! Here’s a brief snapshot.
$6.6 million: Cumulative energy savings for Briar Chapel over the lifetime of the community.
43 million: Kilowatt hours of electricity saved in Briar Chapel over the lifetime of the community.
That’s equivalent to: The funds to purchase 390,000 pizzas from Capp’s Pizzeria in Veranda or the carbon from 5 million gallons of gasoline.
$612: Average annual home energy savings compared to an existing NC home.
900: Kilowatt hours of electricity saved in Briar Chapel since opening.
That’s equivalent to: The cost of tickets to 26 concerts at Cat’s Cradle in Carrboro or the carbon from 4,400 vehicle miles not driven.
With an average HERS score of 60.3, our homes are 25 percent more efficient than the average new-built home in North Carolina! And for more “sunny” news, Briar Chapel has installed 75 solar systems throughout the community along with 10 net zero homes. (That means that the total amount of energy used annually is roughly equal to the amount of renewable energy created by the home.)
That’s a lot to celebrate!
