Cooler Days are upon us...

by Shannon McSwiney

Marketing Manager, Newland Communities

As the cooler weather sets in (yes, 70 degrees counts as cooler!) now is the time to head outside with your family, your pet or just yourself and explore some of the great natural spaces to be found all around the Triangle.

The summer months are fun, but sometimes it makes me personally just want to stay inside in the cool air conditioning or soak in the pool. At Briar Chapel, we are happy that fall “has arrived”. The cooler days have allowed us to get out onto our miles of mountain bike trails and enjoy nature a bit. This weekend is no exception – we’ve got plenty going on for avid mountain bikers, bike enthusiasts, nature lovers, those looking for a cool place to just chill, as well as kids and families!

For the hard-core mountain biker, check out the 6BC Endurance Race – any of you familiar with the great folks from TORC (Triangle Off road Cyclists) you know they don’t mess around when it comes to mountain bike events (can you say 6 hours on the rugged terrain?) – And in typical Briar Chapel style, we have plenty planned for the day to entertain if you are not into hitting the trails.

At the 6BC Endurance Race & Fat Tire Festival, various vendors from around the Triangle will be on hand with cool new bikes, fun swag, and the latest in gear if you are thinking of taking it up a notch. If you’re not up to biking, enjoy the rock climbing wall, catch the trials demos or stop by the bike rodeo and safety seminar with your kids! Stay late for the great food and Beer Garden put on by Carolina Brewery.

We even have a mountain biker going for the Guinness Book of World Records “Longest Track Stand” – check that out early in the day. We were also pretty excited to learn more about the plans by Performance Bicycle in their recent blog - performancebikeblog – they happen to be one of the race sponsors that will be joining us this Saturday for the race and festival.

What I am trying to say...is that regardless of your interests we have a fun day planned whether you are looking to set a record or just chill out and relax – this fall weather at Briar Chapel is absolutely perfect, and the scenery is just an added bonus!

We hope to see you Saturday, October 16th – you can sign up for the endurance race (you even get a post-race meal with your entry fee) or just show up to check out the festivities! Check out 2009 race photos here.
