Named after a local supporter of education with a passion for community service, the new Margaret B. Pollard Middle School serves 480 students grade 6 through 8 in a 120,000 sq. ft. facility. Students pass through a large gallery at the main entrance. Each classroom has a SMART Board and a mounted projector to allow lessons to be taught using up-to-date technology. With geo-thermal heating, motion sensors to detect the need for lighting and ample use of daylight, Pollard Middle School is actively pursuing LEED Gold certification, which would make it the first LEED Gold certified middle school in the state.
