2015 Pepper Festival

Monday, September 21, 2015

I’ve had the pleasure of attending three Pepper Festivals – this year will be my fourth – and to say that this event is a fantastically fun time is an understatement. Every year, it just gets better and better, and this year’s is already shaping up to be groundbreaking. Abundance NC has managed to DOUBLE the number of food vendors attending this year, bringing the final number to a whopping 45!

For a foodie such as myself, this is the equivalent of heaven on earth.

If you aren’t familiar with Pepper Festival, here are some down and dirty facts and tips to get you in the up-to-speed:

  • Come hungry. It’s hard to walk around and eat your heart out if you’re stuffed prior to arrival.

  • Wear comfy shoes. You’re going to be walking from one tent to the next, all while devouring gourmet samples from 45 of the best chefs in the central piedmont. The last thing you want to be worried about is a blister from your shoes that are too snug.

  • As you sample your way through the event, you can purchase (cash bar) all types of micro-brews in which some of the brewers have added peppers to their ales! A local winery, soda shop and coffee shop will also be in attendance. For a list of drinks, brewers and wine, click here.

  • Making the day even more fun is live music and 25 educational booths that cover sustainability, conservation, renewable energy, local food, clean air, clean water and green funerals.

  • Did we mention the KID ZONE? We’ll have a fun area set up so that the kids have a blast while the parents relax.

  • Tickets can be purchased online or at the door.
